Off The Back: A 2010 Retrospective
2010 is DUN, so it's time to recap it like a really bad clip show. I'm gonna skip over some epic parties and moments (Rangeley, The Easter Bunny, etc) but that's OK - no one wants to read a 2,000 word blog post. Here we go...
Adam's last disco: Highlights included my first trip to Lake Placid, Whiteface and the DAKS - freakin' huge and I can't wait to get back there in 2011. This photo was taken on the way to the bar. It's my favorite picture of the year. It reminds me I'm addicted to pond hockey. I'm gonna buy new skates tomorrow, seriously.
SMBA First Timer: I picked up the Redline D660 in March and by April I was in Saratoga ready to get some serious early season mileage under my belt. This was my first ride at SMBA, one of three rides there this summer. I broke in the bike and also experienced my most painful crash of the year, which left a nice scar.
2010 Boston Marathon: Natalie is unreal; she does more in one week than most people do in a year. This was her second "Boston" as they call it. She killed it of course; cutting almost 10 mins off her finishing time. I took this pic at 5am before I drove her to the start - she had her game face on.
EFTA; I'm Back: A trip to the pain cave and I didn't even see it coming. News flash: If you "work out" for two weeks prior to a race, don't be shocked when you're sore as hell and bonk on multiple levels 4 miles into said race. Highlights included being "caught" dropped and lapped by every mom and tandem out there. Little did I know they would use my race number to ID my body in the woods.
Dbone Le Boom Boom: We invaded Canada for this trip. Cruising the streets of Montreal on their public bikes was a highlight of my year. I'm sure Goater is still sore, walk it off dawg! Also, I love this photo:
And I would also like to offer my sincere condolences to Amanda:
Summer Livin': A lot of stuff happened, here is a quick overview. June brought Kevin and I deep into the under belly of back woods NH livin'. Special moments were captured on that warm summer day. I also got pretty decent at riding while simultaneously shootin the picture making machine.
Adam & Dustin got married to each other. I was drunk the entire time. Here is how I remember that two week time period. The priest had his game face on:
The ceremony was breath-taking:
Everyone got on a magic bus:
The floor was removed, as we reached holy matrimony:
August - A time for family: Jake and Tara's kid was on the way, so it was time to party in VT. We hit Millstone, another highlight of the riding season for me. I remember this as a perfect, balanced day. We rode all morning, followed by a trip to the beach on Lake Champlain, then we partied all night with these guys:
Cape Cawd Guy: I used to play golf and bike on the side. Needless to say, that has been reversed (boom). We spent a weekend in Truro - away from the crowds of the lower cape, golfin with mom. The course was sick too - right on the ocean. The weather was perfect, almost made me want to buy a Lexus and play a shit ton of golf.
Crotch-time 2010: Headed up to Kaulback for the annual fall fest. This one featured some riding at FFD. We spent most of the time grilling and drinking in the woods. We are very good at this:
Don't try this at home:
PHP - Learn it and love it: This was a late season audible and it turned out to be one of the best decisions of the year. Read Kevin's review for the details. We will be back next year, mid season style.
Thanxmas: First Halynn and now Wyatt, Thanxmas is a family afair. We partied hard, horrible gifts were exchanged and nobody went to the hospital - huge win. A family photo the NRA would be proud of.
